21-in-1 Update:

Movie Review: Spirited Away (2001)

Chihiro and her parents.

Spirited Away (2001) is one of those films no matter how many times you have watched it, in your childhood or present time, that is always enchanting as it would never fail to captivate you. A realization of brilliant fantasy and imagination, this animated feature is a realistic depiction of strange tales with plenty remarkable animated scenes that are everlasting.

I always remember granny Zeniiba. And the eerie Kaonashi.

There is nothing much one can complain about this film because it is just perfect in various aspects; from the character creations, art direction, running time and to the storyline. Besides the magnificent film making and cinematography, this film is everlasting as it is also filled with plenty of expressive themes and elements that everyone could relate to as well as being entertained.

Susuwatari love sugar candies!

Even more, this film is filled with a lot of strange and adorable magical creatures or spirits such as Susuwatari, Kaonashi, Shikigami, Ootori-sama, Kashira, witches, yuna, giant baby, river spirit, radish spirit and many others which are quite funny to watch. Each of these spirits have their own purpose of existence and you may be able to learn a little about them from this film!

Kohaku River Spirit.

If you are not familiar with strange tales, you may find this film overwhelming but in the end, Spirited Away (2001) is nothing short of breathtaking and you may eventually come to love it.

PS. This is one of my favorite Japanese animated films from childhood. ♥

Spirited Away (2001) Behind the Scenes

Favorite Movie Character
Ending scene; farewell Chihiro!

There are a lot of pretty *I love beauty* and interesting spirits in this film but after rewatching Spirited Away again recently to write a review, my favorite character is Yubāba's son; Bou it is!

Bou is an amusing baby, he is unusually large, likes hiding below his pillows and fears germs that would make him sick. He also usually threatens others by crying and said that his mother would kill them if he cries but he never really does that which just means he is only seeking companion to play with.

Although Bou can be spoiled as his mother loves and treasures him greatly, he is actually the character who has grown up most in this film. This is of course my own opinion.

Well, Bou has never left his room until he met Chihiro and then embarked on a journey which is foreign to him. He made friends along the way and it is quite adorable to watch him overcome the fear of germs, experience life outside his room and become more mature and independent along the way.
