The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon (2006) Trailer

The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon (2006) at a glance
The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon (2006) is the third Pokémon TV movie special in conjunction with 10th anniversary. The Pokémon Company International has featured all new voice casts but it has caused controversy among fans resulting new voice actor for Ash Ketchum and voice rerecording for the rest of the casts for the DVD version.

The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon (2006) Synopsis
Filled with drama, action and suspense, this is a must-see adventure for all Pokémon fans! A Pokémon scientist named Dr. Yung has invented a Mirage System that can recreate extinct Pokémon. Ash, Misty, and Professor Oak are asked to help test it out, but the Mirage System is suddenly taken over by a being called the Mirage Master! It's up to Ash and his friends to stop this mysterious villain - but when the Mirage Master steals classified Pokémon data and creates a Mirage Pokémon so powerful that Ash and Pikachu can't defeat it, will our heroes still find a way to save the day?

Movie Review: The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon (2006)
Dr. Yung and his Mirage Pokémon!

The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon (2006) is barely animated feature length at about 45 mins but it is scientifically creative. The Mirage System is absolutely promising and I like what I see. However, there are several flaws that are too difficult to ignore.

Ash, Pikachu and Misty.

Firstly, the plot. I love the story and the characters, Misty even came back for a bit but there are illogicality throughout the movie. I would usually forgive illogicality but this one is difficult to ignore especially the running time is so short.

Then, the major voice cast change. I am not going to review based on the newer version because of their initial low effort in maintaining the quality of the English dub voice. So yeah, the irreversible controversy happened because the voices are indeed awful; even though I am only following the Pokémon movies all these years, I could even notice that the personality of the characters are also slightly different!

Professor Oak.

I am not angry at those at all as it is baffling and I certainly won't let those to affect my whole experience watching The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon (2006). So I proceeded to watch, ignoring the voice issues although I have detected it almost instantaneously.

Mirage Mewtwo VS. Mirage Mew

The whole thing? Turns out to be pleasant, very science fiction inclined and it is actually enjoyable although there are some violence such as Pokémon killing the other or attacking human. I would like to think Pokémon battle is normal in Pokémon Universe but not violence.

Then, Mew is so much cuter here. I have seen Mew on screen several times and I think this Mirage Mew is the most endearing *and cutest* one! You may also die inside watching this towards the end if you are easily moved and loves all sorts of creatures deeply! :(

Pikachu using Volt Tackle!

Conclusion? Some may like this, some won't. There are flaws and different people have different tolerance or views towards them but I surely loved the scientific side of this story and the Mirage Mew although it's a short one!

PS. Rated this as 5/10 even though I came to like it because it's not great filmmaking! :/

Movie Ratings
Will write a page regarding this and add this to all animated feature entries in the future.

Who will like this?
Hmm, I do think Pokémon fans will love this if it isn't the voice acting issues.
